According to the National Statistics Office (NSO), regions in Mindanao ranked lowest in functional literacy last year, with an average of 70 percent.Dropout rate shot up to as high as 7.3 percent, another NSO data said.
To help address the problem, Amway Philippines, a global direct-selling company, has adopted the South City Central School for its “One by One Campaign for Children,” a project aimed at improving the reading ability of children in public schools.
Amway helped renovate the school library, where a well-lit and inviting storytelling corner was put up.
After months of waiting, the refurbished library formally opened on Oct. 19, to the delight of eager children, parents and teachers.

I am hearing from many TEAM IBO’s that volume in their organizations is down over 50% and some have lost nearly all of their volume as the TEAM IBO’s abandon the Quixtar ship. It will be interesting to see how much of an effect this will have on Quixtar/Amway sales for the year.

Quixtar, a multi-level marketing company, was formed on 1st September 1999 and is part of the group (Alticor) that includes Amway.Owned by the DeVos and Van Andel families, the Quixtar name replaced that of Amway in the US, the Caribbean and Canada. In June of this year the company stated that the Quixtar name would cease to be used over the next couple of years and that Amway would once again be utilised for their business branding.

Two of the worst businesses we ever became involved in were Amway/Quixtar and worm farming. Yes, you read that right–we were worm farmers. Worm castings. Worm poop, to be exact.From 1993 to 1999, we had the misfortune of being Amway distributors. I’ll probably receive a letter from Quixtar attorneys telling me to remove this post. That’s how they keep their reputation clean, I hear. My best friend, at the time, was our sponsor. The up line was real excited because here were two college educated professionals to join the others in their line. We worked the business very hard. We can prove this because we offended all of our friends, neighbors, professional associates, and relatives. Yep, we were definitely in an MLM.

The Associated Press: Quixtar Sues 30 Over Web Remarks
GRAND HAVEN, Mich. (AP) — Direct-marketing firm Quixtar Inc., a
sister company of Amway Corp., has sued 30 people who anonymously
posted what it considers disparaging remarks about Quixtar in blogs and
online forums and in YouTube.com videos.In the lawsuit filed
this past week in Ottawa County Circuit Court, Quixtar seeks an
injunction and damages of more than $25,000 against the posters,
identified only as John Does.Quixtar believes the videos and
other postings are part of an organized effort by former distributors
who unsuccessfully sued Alticor and are under court order not to
disparage the company or disclose proprietary information, according to
the lawsuit.In one video the lawsuit cites, a man wearing a
shirt that says “Property of Quixtar” rants about the company. In
another, a man points out products at a grocery store priced much lower
than comparable Quixtar products.Quixtar plans to ask for
permission to subpoena various online companies to figure out who
posted the materials, spokesman Rob Zeiger said.Quixtar develops
and manufactures nutrition, beauty and cleaning products that are
marketed through a tiered selling system. Parent company Alticor Inc.
uses the Quixtar name for its U.S. and Canadian direct sales unit and
sells products throughout the rest of the world as Amway Corp.Alticor,
a $6.3 billion company based in Ada, Mich., announced in June that it
will start phasing out the Quixtar name and rebuilding its Amway brand
in the U.S. and Canada.
